The original artwork of this truck was created in 1999...
the date is on the print. This Vintage International truck was dumped, as most of these treasures are! I discovered this one near the side of the road on a country lane and climbed over fences and waded through swampy water to reach it. The original artwork has been 'professionally' scanned to a high resolution to allow fine detail when enlarged.
Prints are printed with archival inks (the same as all of the prints on this website) which will last for 'more than 75 years',

Fell in love with these beautiful Penguins when I visited Penguin Island in Western Australia....so adorable and cute.
They were in a feeding area, waiting patiently in turn for their feed.
This little girl is called Sassy and she is moulting,
that is why she is so fluffy.

Story of the mouse....
One hot summers day in 1989, my daughters pre-school friend Demetry,
arrived at our home with a Tupperware container and told me that he had brought a 'rat' for me to draw!
I reluctantly opened the corner of the container, in case it was still alive and peeped in.
Inside was the tiniest, dead mouse.
It was already 'on the nose' and the last thing I wanted to draw...but I couldn't let the young man down.
So when my children had gone to bed I spent the rest of the evening drawing it,
scrutinizing every detail and using a magnifying glass to be able to see his tiny claws.
By the time I had finished I was pleased to have drawn it but so sick of the smell of dead mouse.
I found some Banksia leaves in the garden, which are rigid and curled like the mouse was
and drew them around him, to make him look like he was floating.
We buried him the next day.

'since I was now in to drawing dead animals' (that keep still)
I wanted to try and
capture its beauty.

This is the powerful Emperor Snapper
which can grow to be 3' (90cm) in size.
It was golden brown and white, but I wanted to add my own touch and used some 'artistic license' by experimenting with colour, to make a more unusual and striking picture.

Tipperary Homestead, Toodyay 1839
This was one of my very large pieces of artwork,
magnificently framed to suit a large country home and sold
from my former Art Gallery in Toodyay to a private collector.
Anecdote
I created the artwork of the historical Tipperary Homestead ruin in the year 2000, left the area in 2005 and revisited the site in 2009. I was surprised and disappointed, to find that the magnificent Gum tree had died, reduced to a few grey logs and sticks scattered across the harsh landscape.
Even the tough Australian Gums die
in the scorching summer heat!
I am pleased that I was able to draw it while it was at its finest!
The small window at the bottom of the building, is the window to what was a cellar, but is now full of animal droppings (fox & sheep) and dead carcasses. Inside it was dark, cool and had an overpowering stench.
Creepy but fun to explore!

The Honey House. Pioneer Apiarists/bee-keepers cottage.
Private Commission
This artwork was commissioned, by the Grandson of a Pioneer Apiarist, for a 100 year reunion on the family's bee-keeping farm.
The building is a mud brick cottage, which was used to extract honey from the combs.
Peeping out from the shed is a Vintage Fordson Major Tractor which was used to clear the land, leaving only the flowering gum trees to attract the honey bees.
A little piece of Western Australian history!

Brunhilde is in-calf, she is not a 'fat cow' as some people have suggested; the calf is on one side of the stomach and food is on the other, making the one side bigger. She is staring at me hoping to get some food. Fritz is very shy but curious. There were a lot of other cows around them, but I wanted to focus on drawing just these two cuties to make the artwork have more of an impact. The appeal is in their eyes (which connects you to them) and their fuzzy ears and flop-top furry heads...see close up below.
